Whether you looking to interact with others with similar career interests, searching for an opportunity to get involved, or interested in attending visiting speaker events, students at the Trachtenberg School can get involved in a number of ways.

Student Opportunities

The Trachtenberg Student Organization: The Trachtenberg Student Organization (TSO) fosters social, academic and professional development and interaction among students. Join to meet other students and attend visiting speaker events, career development workshops and more.

Policy & Practice Student/Alumni Groups and Networking Events: Initiated and led by students interested in facilitating meaningful discussions and strengthening student/alumni connections within policy and practice areas of interest, these are opportunities for funding from TSPPPA to either develop a group or host a networking event to  enhance their professional journey.

Policy Perspectives & Student-Run Media: The Policy Perspectives journal, blog and GW WonkCast are student-produced media providing opportunities for students and alumni to publish and discuss research based on their studies and to offer their perspectives on public policy and administration.

Diversity & Inclusion Committee: The Diversity and Inclusion Committee is composed of TSPPPA students, faculty and staff. The committee aims to develop leaders who influence public affairs by actively promoting diversity and inclusion in academia, the workplace and public policy.

Women's Leadership Fellows: The Women’s Leadership Fellows program is a selective cohort of women currently enrolled at TSPPPA who meet monthly to build leadership and community through skills-based workshops, a mentoring program and networking events.

Minority Leadership Program: The Minority Leadership Program develops the skills of talented students from traditionally marginalized communities, to help them become leaders in the public, private and nonprofit sectors.

ICMA Student Chapter: The GW ICMA student chapter aims to introduce and integrate students in the local government management profession and help students get to know ICMA members, resources and the Code of Ethics.

Pi Alpha Alpha: Pi Alpha Alpha is the Global Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration. Trachtenberg School students with a GPA of 3.70 or higher are invited to join as they prepare to graduate. The induction ceremony includes dinner and an opportunity to network with past and current inductees.
