In what ways did the Trachtenberg community—whether professors, peers, or alumni—support or influence your career?

Public policy impacts all walks of life. Similarly, people from all walks of life are drawn to be advocates of good public policy. This is especially true in DC and GW, where people from all over the country and the world come to work. Being exposed to a such a diverse range of people, both as my peers as well as my professors, helped me become a better policymaker and public servant.

What advice would you share with someone looking to pursue a career similar to yours?

Say yes to a wide range of opportunities, even those out of your comfort zone. You never know what's out there and where your career might lead you! Having diverse experiences will help you figure out what you like and make you a well-rounded individual.

Develop strong written and oral communication skills. Wherever you end up, you will need to be a strong communicator, both to speak about your work, and to sell and advocate for yourself.
