Why did you choose the Trachtenberg School?

I chose the Trachtenberg School because of its academic reputation and connection to the Federal community in DC. Attending school at the Trachtenberg allowed me to translate what I learned in the classroom into real world experiences through internships and professional connections with real practitioners.

In what ways did the Trachtenberg community—whether professors, peers, or alumni—support or influence your career?

The group of peers from my class has had a tremendous impact on me - professionally and personally. Our cohort has spread out through a number of different industries and career moves, but through it all remain some of my biggest champions, sounding boards, and consultants. The network of peers was invaluable to my career (and remain some of my best friends to this day).

What advice would you share with someone looking to pursue a career similar to yours?

Remain curious. When I left the Trachtenberg School I thought I would go into the national security space and spend my whole career there. Instead I have served as a CFO, helped coordinate efforts to deploy broadband and revitalize domestic semiconductor production, support economic development in distressed communities, and spur workforce training in skilled trades. None of these were on my roadmap, but I remained opened to new opportunities that would enhance my core skills and continually sought ways to have the greatest impact. This wouldn't have happened if I was narrowly focused on my initial interest.
