Travel and Planning Tips for 2019 Accepted Students Day

Getting Around via Metro

GW is a city campus well served by public transit. Because finding parking within the downtown area can be challenging and expensive, we strongly encourage that attendees ride the Metro whenever visiting GW and exploring DC.

1957 E Street is about eight blocks from the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro Station, about six from the Farragut West Station (Blue, Orange and Silver lines) and a fifteen-minute walk from the Farragut North Station (Red line).

Taxis and ride share services such as Lyft, Uber, and Via are easily accessible to and from GW.

Parking at George Washington University

Should you choose to drive to campus, Visitor Parking Garages are located:

  • G Street Garage (access from both 20th Street and 21st Street, NW between F and G streets, open 24/7)
  • The University Parking Garage (UPG), located under the Science and Engineering Hall (entrance located on H Street, NW between 22nd and 23rd streets, open 24/7, NO CASH)

Both visitor garages are self-service and accept all major credit cards for payment (no cash). For further questions regarding on-campus parking, please contact the Parking Office at (202) 994-PARK (7275).

Local Hotels and Hostels

Several hotels offer discounted rates for GW students and families. For more information, please visit the Travel Services page

There are a number of alternative options to book your stay in DC. Students in the past recommend using Airbnb and researching Hostels in the area.
