The Labor Market Recovery: Lessons Learned, Best Practices and Equitable Policies

The COVID-19 pandemic has clearly shaken labor markets in the United States in terms of skyrocketing unemployment rates as well as the loss of labor hours and wages. It has also disproportionately impacted the black and Latinx communities as well as women. This panel will discuss how we can draw on lessons from past recessions in order to create effective public policy that can help the labor market recover both efficiently and equitably. Specific ideas involving skills and vocational training, federally subsidized job policies, infrastructure programs, and others will be covered. The discussion will be followed by a question and answer session from the audience.
