What is the relationship between The Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration and the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences (CCAS)?

The Columbian College oversees the Trachtenberg School. You can think of the Trachtenberg School as a unit within the Columbian College.

How long does it take to complete an MPP, MPA or MA-ENRP?

It typically takes a full-time student two years to complete the MPP, MPA or MA-ENRP or three years as a part-time student. Typically, full-time students take three classes each fall and spring semester and one class during the summer term between their first and second years. Part-time students normally take two classes each fall and spring semester and complete at least one summer course during their time in the program.

How long does it take to complete the PhD?

It depends on several variables: full-time or part time status; number of credits transferred in from a master's degree; time to research and write the dissertation. Our average is about 6 years, though many finish faster.

How long does it take to complete a Graduate Certificate?

Typically, two semesters.

What certificates do you offer?

We offer a Certificate in Budget and Public Finance with classes that can be completed in person at Foggy Bottom or online.  Additionally, we offer graduated certificates in Environmental Resource Policy and Nonprofit Management that can be completed in person.
